Does the Nikon d40 or d60 shoot well in low lighting?

I'm trying to get more into live music photography and I really want a good camera that can shoot well in low lighting without a flash and give me a nice crisp shot. If you have any recommendations of other cameras that do that and are under $800ish do tell =] Thanks!

yes they do if you set the ISO up higher. Nikon has great high ISO performance with low noise so as I said in another answer here crangk it up 400, 800 even 1600 is not a big issue just make sure at 1600 and above the noise reduction is on. Use a tripod and if you have a fast lens that will help also.

How to Make an Impact With a Live Performance

What if I tell you that music is not only a hobby but also a great profession? What if I tell you that there are a number of small things you can pay your attention to for good results? Are you looking for ideas about how to make a beginning in the field? Read on.

Music today is fun with so many options. Whether you want to play in theatres or showcase your talent on streets, you can do all that for making a mark. You can even make a splash on the internet with your own website to promote you. What a way to make and sell music!

If you are still a rookie, don’t lose heart. You would already have been through with your music recording by now. Visit your nearest record stores and request the storekeeper to play your albums all day long. Use music production software to add zing to your music. People love musicians who connect with them, who listen to their ideas and who exude positive vibes. So make an appearance in retail stores for the full day. Get exciting leaflets prepared and distribute them all over. Give special discounts and play their favorite music. Also have your CDs packaged and put them on display. Play them along and invite people to be a part of your story. Believe me you will be able to sell copies to people who would otherwise simply gloss over your CDs in stores.

Have you heard of the term busking? If not don’t worry, as a budding musician, you can do a lot of it for earning good money and building relationships. Busking means playing live music in public places and fairs for tips and donations. A large number of musicians give live performances to build a rapport with their audience and to earn decent money. You can also do it and more. Keep your CDs and albums ready and handy. Play them along during regular breaks through a Discman and personal stereo. You can sell a number of copies and also allow people to hire you and your band in future.

Busking today is a great means of promoting singing and instrument playing. It is preferable to play your own music so that you earn a royalty. Entertain and humor people and they will love it. Act as a disc jockey in between to bring a variation in your profile. Give free CDs to people for playing in their car audio systems. Remember free publicity never hurts. It only creates positive notes about your credentials.

Foot tapping music, whether acoustic or lightly amplified, is encouraged by all the major cities in the world. Authorities encourage buskers to play their music at gatherings, events, gala festivals, theatres etc. all at a nominal cost. Just check with the norms applicable to your city and be a part of the growing tribe of happy buskers. It is a great way to make money and stay connected.

As an individual music performer, the choice is between reaching out to people and sitting at home. Showcase your talent, self promote yourself and jell well. People will notice you and appreciate your initiative. Playing music full time is an option now and it is possible to carve a niche out for you.
